OFBiz is a service-oriented framework for building web applications. It acts as a client of a remote web service provider and sends an HTTP/HTTPS request message with one or more service parameters. OFBiz provides two modes for encoding URL parameters: false and true. The web service provider determines which encoding mode is appropriate for a particular request. For example, the PayPal IPN web service sends request parameters without encoding, but the client web service must encode the parameters when it returns the IPN message.

Another open-source solution for clustering is Sequoia, which provides replication across multiple data nodes, load balancing, and failover.
